Anne and Maurice were very welcoming and ensured we had everything we needed.

We enjoyed our stay and I enjoyed cooking in the well-equipped kitchen.

We slept well in comfy beds and enjoyed beautiful views onto the landscape.

Home-made bread and fresh milk on arrival was much appreciated.

What an amazing little gem of a place .. we had very warm welcome from Anne & Maurice .. the little touches were fab freshly baked bread and a little welcome hamper … it has an amazing log burner which keeps you really toasty … it was immaculate and had an extremely comfortable bed .. and the views well what can I say amazing and even had a clear night to see all the amazing stars .. thank you again

Absolutely perfect from start to finish. Anna & Maurice were extremely welcoming, the cleanliness was top notch and I will definitely be returning. Excellent walking information at ‘The Sill’ around a mile away and great walking routes.

We had a lovely weekend and Anne & Maurice’s place. The cottage is very peaceful, spacious and had all we needed.The views from the garden are stunning with sheep grazing on the hills. Anne & Maurice were very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!

This is a perfect place to unwind and recharge. I had a wonderful week in this secluded spot. Anne and Maurice are excellent hosts. They communicated details of the check in very well and the place was very easy to find. I had a warm welcome from Anne and Maurice upon arrival, including some homemade bread. The cottage was spotless and very well organised with all the amenities you would need for a short stay. I am glad to have found this place and will definitely be back. We have just had a perfect stay at Hill House Hideaway,in a peaceful rural spot.The cottage provided an ideal base, enabling us to visit Hadrian’s Wall via Steel Rigg, magnificent views,and observing the digs taking place at Vindolanda.We had a coastal day too,Boulmer, Craster, Seahouses for fish and chips, and a wonderful walk on Bamburgh beach,whilst the tide was out. Peaceful time was spent too at Keilder Water and Forest.Our getaway was rewarded with the best of weather, for which we enjoyed the Hideaway’s decked area for breakfast, and the late evening sun for sundowners.

Everything thing about our stay was super,with Maurice and Ann making sure that all was in order for us.So very clean cosy and comfortable, with a log burner for extra cosiness.A freshly made loaf of bread and milk provided for us on arrival,and tea coffee sugar also there.Hot water showers and toiletries very appreciated.All these thoughtful touches made us feel very welcome. At the end of the day falling asleep, in the most comfy bed.

In terms of location, you couldn’t get much more rural and secluded. I searched for a long time to find this gem and I am definitely going to come back. The area is also rich in terms of the variety of landscapes and therefore walking options. One day, you could be in a gorge walking alongside a river, the next hillside following Hadrians wall with nature watching you all around. I love this part of the world and there is no better location to be staying in order to get the best access to it all.

As for the cottage… it’s snug, cosy, extremely comfortable and has every appliance you could need for a short stay. I loved the wood burner!

The bed was super comfy although I would consider the bedroom ceiling a little low if you’re over 6ft.

I didn’t want for anything during my stay as everything was provided. When I saw Anne and Maurice, they were delightful, very attentitive and made me feel everso welcome.

I would recommend this ideal retreat location to everyone who’s looking for a bit of R&R or peace and quiet – although realising at the same time, it might limit my opportunities to stay again 🙂

Great little place. Quiet and secluded but within easy reach of local sights.

Great hosts, excellent communication. A lovely cosy, hide away with a perfect rural view from the sunny decking area. It had everything we wanted. The cleaning had been a through Covid clean with a range of soaps and cleaning materials to keep us ‘safe’ I thoroughly recommend their place for Hadrians Wall and surrounding area. TheBowes in Barden Mill and the Beaumont in Hexham have excellent food. It was the perfect stay at the end of Lockdown. Thank you Anne & Maurice 😊😊
